Within the Shadows

The interaction of light and shadow forming geometric shapes has shaped my exploration of figures in architectural spaces. I found various shadow shapes in different locations and took on the role of the model to capture them. Acting as both director and model, I seized the moment to photograph myself when my form blended seamlessly with the shadows. This merging prompted the questions: What is the shadow? What is the figure? How does one feel when hidden within the shadows? How does one feel when emerging into the light?  I was captivated by how shadows could partially flatten the figure, creating an illusion of space and exploring the interconnectedness of light, shadow, and emotions. To contrast with the muted backdrop, I incorporated pops of color, highlighting parts of the figure while maintaining a subdued overall color scheme.
